Providing legal advice to Motion Picture Association of America

2019.12.23

In anticipation of the implementation of two important EU directives – the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market and Audiovisual Media Services Directive – the Motion Picture Association of America turned to us for assistance in implementing the EU directives in 2019 as the provisions set forth in these directives have an effect on the client’s market.

The Motion Picture Association of America represents five major U.S. film studios and Netflix, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service. It was in the interest of the client to facilitate the transposition of the provisions set out in the directives into national law and to make sure the transposition meets the association’s interests as much as possible.

The firm’s partner Andrius Iškauskas analysed the EU law, provided legal advice to the client, took part in the meetings of the working groups responsible for developing a regulatory framework for transposing EU directives into national law and submitted proposals for the drafting of legislation.
