NOOR lawyers have been successful in the case before the Court of Justice of the European Union

2022.08.02

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has raised hundreds of questions from its very entry into force: where is the line between the privacy of personal data and the publics’ right to know that ensures transparent operation of organizations and the state?

This time NOOR team has helped its client – the head of a non-governmental organization – to solve one of those situations and won the case before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).

  • The head of NGO took legal action related to the declaration of private interests, which he was requested to submit. He claimed to have no duty to submit such declaration and his privacy would be breached by making it available on the Internet.
  • CJEU has clarified that publication of excess data, such as personal identity number, on the Internet is unnecessary, and publication of data of spouses, partners and other counterparties is unjustified.
